Iran? No Sorry I Walked.

Yesterday I watched the much anticipated speech made by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at New York City's Ivy league school, Columbia University. There were many groups protesting his mere appearance at the school, some internal resistance, but most came from outside groups with no affiliation to the university. Many protesters criticized Columbian school president, Lee Bollinger for allowing Ahmadinejad, a known Holocaust denier to speak in front of the school's audience, a man who is the president of an country that is reportedly funneling weapons to Iraqi insurgence to use against American soldiers. A man who is the president of a country that is a State sponsor of Hezbolah, a known terrorist group. And among other things, a man who have said publicly in speeches that he believes that Israel should be wiped off the map, and when he said wiped off the map, he doesn't mean with the use of an eraser, and last but not least he also think that The United States of America is the "Devil" and would have us gone as well. So with all, one can understand the protest, but this is a country that values our right of free speech, so even a guy like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who some have gone as far to come to compared to Hitler, he has the right to speak his his case and his agenda just like any other invited guess. So with all that said Mahmoud Ahmadinejaddid not receive a warm welcome.

University president Lee Bollinger ( who feel under heavy criticism the day leading up) during his introduction speech instead of welcoming Ahmadinejad went on the offensive and attacked him. Bollinger confronted Ahmadinejad the truths and facts surrounding him. He asked Ahmadinejad, if he answer questions about denying the Holocaust, about supplying weapons that kill American solders, about sponsoring terrorism, and about wanting to destroy Israel. Like a true politician Ahmadinejad after making a response back to the University president stating how offended he was by the so-called welcome, went on to address the questions by, well not answering the questions. On the question if the Holocaust, he backed off on his claims of denying it to a more friendly response say that there need to be more research., comparing one of the most documented events in World history to physics research, in that there are always new things we learn that change what we once thought were true. On sponsoring terrorist, he claims that for 28 years the Iranian people have been victims of terrorism. Basically Ahmadinejad danced around every question, and maybe the highlight of the questioning came from a student. The question was about human rights violations committed against women and homosexuals. To that question Ahmadinejad said. that Iran does not have homosexuals as we do in the United States. That spurred laughter and boos from the crowd. But he selectively left out that in Iran homosexuals are executed, with sodomy being a crime punishable by death.

When I first learned that Ahmadinejad was going to speak at Columbia University, I first thought to myself why? Why did they even invite this guy. But after watching the speech that was covered live on CNN, I think it was the right thing to do. Here is a guy who we have only seen in short clips making outrageous claims translated into English. What Columbia University did was to confront and expose this guy to the entire country. Ultimately allowing Ahmadinejad to make the case against him very solid. Ahmadinejad, though television coverage and attention rose to from a figure head leader of a country who's real leaders are the religious leaders, to an international superstar. That same television coverage, at least in this country, has finally exposed Ahmadinejad for the man that he is.

Don't Tase Me Bro!!

Its been a big news week, with most of the coverage going to the one and only O.J. Simpson. If you've haven't been living under a rock ( is that the same as living in a cave?) you should know that O.J. Simpson was arrested for his part in breaking into of hotel room over the weekend. ( Would that classify as a hotel invasion? Second off color question so far in placed in parentheses, interesting. ) He said he was only trying to retrieve his stuff, or as he called in in the armed robbery tape, his shit. Stuff such as memorabilia that was stolen from him, as he claims. So far....wait did I just type that the robbery was taped? Taped by a friend of O.J. and then sold like a Britney Spears psychiatry case folder to TMZ.com. Yes this guy Riccio, an apparent career criminal and one of O.J.'s best friends sold the tape to TMZ first than to hand it over to the authorities. Did I mention that I think this was a set up?

Now before you ( the reader, as if I needed to stress that point) say but didn't he actually broke into the room and forcible ( with weapons) stole what was in the room, let me say of course he did I agree with you, so calm your ass down. O.J. seems to be a stupid man, ever since he was acquitted back in the early nineties he has been unable to keep himself out of trouble. You would think that a man who many, I might go as far to say the majority of the country believes got away with murder, would be a model citizen, but O.J. is not that smart. Even in this current case he surrounds himself with the shadiest characters he can find and befriends them, that's not smart O.J. You're a 60 year old man, act like it ( what ever that means). As we all know by now, he as made bail and is back on his way to Florida. Here's a tip, O.J. as you may or may not be facing life in prison, or should I say life for a 60 year old man, stay out of the news, let the only news that comes out about you be from the reports who are on the case. That's just a suggestion.

Also today many black civil rights activist such as Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and hip hop star Mos Def are coming together along with thousands of other participants in Jena, Louisiana in support of the Jena Six. This case have been going on for a long time now, months if I recall, but its only been in the last few weeks that this case have hit the mainstream news. Now you may still be in the dark about this case so let me lay it down for you. Five out of six black students were charged for attempted murder of a white student after a school fight. Yes a good ole' fashion six on one. Now weather it was the defendants who were part of the fight lets make it clear that the fight did happen, what provoked it is unknown but it did happened and know one is denying that. What people are up in arms about it the attempted murder charge . The white student did go to the hospital due to his injuries, but he was also released the same day and attended a planned school function. Now I don't know about you but that just screams out Attempted Murder!!( Sarcasm if you don't know). You know what he would say back in my day, which wasn't too long ago since I'm still in my mid 20's? Well first we wouldn't call this an attempted murder, we would say the kid got jumped, which happened more often then you think. Damn kids are pussies these days.

Let me also lay some more down for you. Jena just seems to be a town that is unwilling to admit to it's racism. In the same High School where this attack occurred, nooses placed on a tree on school grounds, where black students sat under a tree , that was known ans a "whites only" tree. Of course most white people in the town, maybe out of fear of the consequences of the students who placed the noose, or maybe not, just passed it off as a practical joke. ( By the way there were only suspended) Wow I can't wait to see a Youtube video of lynching bloopers. Let me also lay this down, the make of Jena is as follows, out of the estimated 3, 000 residents of Jena 85% are white and 12% are black. So you can only imagine how hot the racial tensions in the small town is getting.

Finally let me alluded to my title of course you have seen the Florida college student getting teased during a John Kerry visit to his school. Well let me say this after being force fed this video for two days now. From what I have heard is that this kid went way over his time limit for questioning, and was told repeatedly to step down, and then as all of us have seen the campus police were called in to restrain him. As we can see its clear that he's vigorously resiting arrest or resisting the will of the police. Now I don't agree with use of the teaser on this young man, but he got what he deserved. As black people know ( just ask a black guy, hey that's sounds like comedy bit) when you resist arrest something bad always happens. Maybe this kid thought he didn't have to listen to the police when they tired to escort him out, or when they told him to turn over on your stomach, and calm down or your will be tased. In my opinion when you better listen to the police because they don't make idle threats.

The Juice is Loose

Today the much talked about "If I Did It" the OJ Simpson book where he discusses the now infamous murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. In one chapter he gives an imaginary overview of how he would've killed the two murder victims. This book was supposed to be accompanied with a television special in which Simpson would be interviewed, with the exclusive rights of the interview going to FOX. As many know due to the extreme backlash of the proposed interview FOX was compelled to scrap the interview and with the exclusive interview gone ultimately the the book itself was dropped as well. So one would think that a book would be dead and buried, but that's not what happened. The Goldman's, who won a civil case against Simpson are still owned money from Simpson, which he was ordered to pay millions of dollars to the Goldman family, have gone to court to and have won the rights to "If I Did It", and well that bring us up to this date, the date of the book's release.

Now I'm sure some people well say hey, they ( The Goldman's) by law deserve any proceeds that may come from that money, and I would have to agree, but here is where it gets cloudy for me. Why would a father want to publish a book that describes how your son's alleged killer, killed your son. I understand that they want to take money out of OJ's pockets, that's fine with me, legally that's there right until they are given what they are owed as far a monetary payment is concerned, but is getting the money that important to them that The Goldman's would seek to this low. I'm not a father, I would want to be one sometime in the future, but come on, this is the man that you feel so certain killed your son, this is a man who you believe who heartedly killed the mother of his children, and according to you got away with murder. So why would you want to give this man anymore press. The book was so far tainted that OJ was never going to find another publisher for it just based on the bad press that accompanied the project. But I guess with the Goldman's having the book now, it can be spun in a different way but it still doesn't change the contents of the book. Again I'm not a father, but if I were I would not want to put out a book by son's killer.

Until next time, this is how I would've written this blog entry...." If I Wrote It".

Where is She?

The parents of Madeline McCann, a 4 year old British girl who went missing in Portugal , have been officially named as suspects in the case surrounding her disappearance. This story over recent months have become a big story in this country. What country you ask, well the good ole' United States of America. I know you must be thinking the same thing I've been thing...why!?! Here's a story of a child that goes missing on vacation in a foreign country, she's been missing for months, she may be dead. Many British celebrities, including David Beckham among other mega stars even compiled an ad campaign to raise the profile of her case, sort of like star-studded have you seen me card, only in video form. I know this is a very tragic story, but here is my gripe, hear me out.

This is America, sure I feel sad about the situation, but damn she's not an American so why are we ( the U.S. Media) giving this story so much coverage. I can see little Madeline was an American girl who went missing in Portugal, but she wasn't. I know this might be harsh, but until this girl turns up alive or dead, or there are official murder charges brought against some one, I don't want to hear about it!!! There are thousands of missing Americans who are available for the media lottery to have their case turned into the next great, captivating news story. I mean dammit! isn't there a little white girl from Florida, or Tennessee who's missing that we all can watch CNN and hold out hope that she returns to her family. I mean damn Nancy Grace needs a fresh stony that she can spend 4 months on. Speaking of Nancy Grace, who did she had to blackmail to marry her and knocked her up. Maybe there should be a "Knocked-Up 2" where a guy who gets Nancy Grace pregnant and then goes " Now What!!!". Wrapping this topic I'll just this, go out try to do with a camera crew and try to find some missing Americans.

Did you see Brittney Spears on the MTV Music Video Awards, well I didn't. I was watching the Dallas Cowboys play the New York Giants only on NBC. I saw a few clips of her performance on a few different shows and all I have to say is...DAMN!! What happened!! She just seemed like she wasn't prepared to perform, it was embarrassing, well for her, for me it was quite comical.

If you look at the date of this entry you'll notice that it's the eve of the 6th anniversary of the 9-11 World Trade Center terrorist attack. Yes its been 6 years since the attacks in NYC. I guess it sort of like what your some of your parents and grandparents talk about when they heard the news of the JFK or Martin Luther King assassinations. I still remember clearly when I first heard the news that there were planes flown into the Twin Towers. It took me awhile after I got home from school, after watching footage of the attacks for everything to set in and understand/accept what happened. Well for those of you that don't remember, you're in luck. MSNBC will re-air the original NBC coverage from September 2001. Really is this needed, is this what MSNBC thinks will be the ratings buster of the morning. What are they thinking, "While every other stations will carry the remembrance ceremony talking place at the ground zero site, we'll run show them, we'll run the original news broadcast from September 11th, 2001" Honestly we don't need this. I don't know what it feels like to have lost anyone during 9-11, a brother of mine, who worked in the towers, coincidently chose not to go to work that day, but I have to believe that the families of the victims don't want to relive their emotions on that day, I know I wouldn't.

Well until next time, don't watch MSNBC tomorrow morning !!!
